Competition Show Hosts

I've been watching this show on Netflix called Id!otest. The premise is that two teams of two compete against each other to solve puzzles for money. A lot of the puzzles are trickier than they seem; you have to really pay attention to the wording AND you're on a time limit! Here's an example of the puzzles:
The correct answer is the pink marker because it has "ink" in red! It's a very entertaining show, except for the host! He spends a lot of the show ragging on the contestants in what should be a "good-natured" way, but I think he's really lacking the charisma necessary to be jokingly mean.
Have you ever watched a show where the host was really off-putting? Or what about the reverse- an average show with a stellar host?
