As it says here --
Post in the introduction class forum, introducing yourself with your HOL name, any HOL nicks, what house you are in, and what year you joined. Post to say whether you have seen The Hobbit movie(s), read the book, or both.

Yay, I'm the first one!! I feel all special now B)

Ahem..

I'm Emily Spencer, 7th year student and Head Slytherin Prefect. I wandered into the castle on July 9, 2019, and if anyone had told me I would make it this far, I would have laughed. I was really just curious about which House I would get. Then it was "Oh, I'll just look around a little..." Famous last words! Since then, I've worn many hats, including Head Student for almost 4 years. I also help moderate the Library, Art Dept, and Book Club. But enough about me!

I have tried...multiple times...to read the Lord of the Rings. I know, I know, it is the quintessential fantasy novel. I just cannot get into it. I made it as far as 5 chapters and put it down in frustration. I've not read The Hobbit at all, although I am hoping to get motivated to do so by this class. If nothing else, the class will at least give me a basic idea of the plot so I'm not totally clueless. I have not seen the Hobbit movie, but I did see the first Lord of the Rings. Shallow reason...I had a thing for Orlando Bloom. Just saying!

I’m Sophia Williams, a 3rd year student. I join on 30 November 2023 and was sorted into Gryffindor. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but since then, I haven’t left HOL.

I tried many times to read the books, but I can’t find the courage to commit to this. I’ve seen the movies, but I don’t find I’ve ever seen the end of them. I watch them on the TV, however, they finish too late and I’m already asleep. However, I’m planning to watch all of them very soon with my family. I’m hoping that after this class, I’ll find the courage and the dedication to read the books.

Hi there, I'm Amy Darvill, a sixth year Hufflepuff student. I joined with Emily back in 2019, both of us were checking it out and wanted to see what we would get. i obviously got hufflepuff, I feel like i get more now that I'm older, as a kid, I got Ravenclaw about half of the time.

I'm slightly more familiar with Lord of the Rings, I actually finished the movies with a friend. And I will be honest, how long the last movie took in the ending aspect I think turned me off a little bit? I felt like it dragged. I've also tried reading it a few times, and I will say I get a little further each time, but it's a beast, and I just haven't done it. Don't know if I ever will. I did download the Hobbit ebook, so maybe I'll get around to it soon. (And yes, Orlando Bloom in his heyday, but now, I think Aragorn's the winner. :P)
