Title of the book: The Complete Persepolis
Author: Marjane Satrapi
Series: N/A
Genres: Autobiography/Graphic Novel
This book chronicles the life of Marjane Satrapi growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution in a graphic novel format. It goes from her childhood during a time of intense political upheaval, to her facing adolescence away from her family in Vienna, to her homecoming and later self-imposed exile.
I really enjoyed the graphics in this book and the insight into the Islamic Revolution that I didn't particularly know about beforehand. Satrapi's development throughout the book was also very well done and honest and I really appreciated it. At first I thought it was strange how the subject matter flowed from chapter to chapter, but it reflected her life and growing up very well, so I think that it was the best way to tell the story.
