Lesson Note Taking

Hi, does anyone have any tips on how they take notes for classes if you do or do you only try and focus on completing assignments for your courses?

When I take notes I go:

-topic of a paragraph
-some info
-some more info
-info that correlates to this info

-new topic
-and so forth

I've found that it also helps to not completely write down what is in the lessons and to use my own shorthand and that usually each paragraph or every other paragraph is essentially a new topic. I will also sometimes read the lesson a second time and add a little bit to a section if I feel it needs to go there instead of on its own.

It took a few lessons to really get a flow on how I take my notes for classes and I hope this helps!

usually I don't really take notes for class. but I read the questions in the assignment first and write down the important points in the questions (for short answer questions and multiple choice). Then I'll read the lessons and then mark the answer of the questions

But I'll write up the important things from the lessons and rewrite it with my opinion for rewrite or opinion task

I also don't take notes on the lessons. For HOL homework I open the homework and the lesson side by side and work my way through the work by first reading a paragraph and checking if any of the homework tasks is regarding what I've just read.

I’ve taken notes in real life classes, but I usually have the homework and the assignment open in separate tabs so I can review. What my HOL notebook has the most of is tryping to figure out the unscramble puzzles. Or if I’m doing an essay assignment, I might write down notes of my thoughts while I’m trying to figure out what I want to say.

I take notes when doing classes, it makes it feel more official. Whenever the lesson has a list, i'll copy the list down. It might also help me remember some things from the lesson which can make the assignments easier because either i remember it or it makes it easier to find the correct answer because i will know about where to look.

What I would recommend, get 2 notebooks, in the first one, cram as much information as you can in it. Don't worry about it being neat. Then when you get home, in the second notebook, rewrite everything, color code it, add annotations, etc. That makes it easier to study. It is a hassle but it really works for me
That's for like, actual school tho. If you were talking about HOL, then I just don't take notes honestly. It's all right there for you.

I also take the same approach as Gracelyn, by having double the notes. Ones I quickly jot down in class and another I later spend time organizing so my brain can remember. It depends entirely on how your brain works. Are you more visual, auditory or pattern driven. Work around that. For HOL classes, I don't take notes, I prep a page before hand by selecting questions I feel I would enjoy answering and adding them to the page. I go through the lesson once, answer the questions I like most and then start from the bottom and work my way answering the rest up to the top of the page, referring back to the lesson as needed. I know, it's weird. But it helps for some reason. Note I do have the lesson, the questions and the answering page (usually a google doc) open next to each other in different tabs so I can shuffle between them. Hope that helps.

I usually don't take notes on HOL because I find each and every word interesting somehow, but I take screenshots to read later. I also shuffle between the assignment, my answering page, and the screenshots in my gallery open on different tabs when I am writing assignments.
In Muggle classes, I take notes but face the same problem. I can't skip anything that the teacher or Professor says. But, I tend to read the lesson earlier in case of Muggle classes, so that I know which parts of the information I can find in my books later, and which parts I don't have a written record of, anywhere. That helps me note down everything that is not already written in my books.

I usually find a video lecture for whatever I am learning, if I cannot find one, I use a text-to-speech service to hear a textual guide (e-books, technical documentation, research papers, etc.) And while hearing these, I write down bullet points covering each and every point.

After I am done listening, I revisit each bullet point and try to expand my knowledge on each of them separately by writing down any and all related definitions, terminologies and noting down other related concepts to expand on further.

I continue doing this iteratively until I know almost everything about that topic. This takes about twice the time than just reading the topic from a book, but the retention factor outweighs the time requirement.

It's a really good technique, and has helped me throughout my six years of engineering journey.

I don't really take notes on HOL, instead rely on the information that my brain has grasped. Sometimes, I look back at the lessons for things I don't remember.

In the Muggle realm, pen and paper for jotting down keywords is my style of taking notes.

I have only taken HOL 101 so far, upto 3 assignments. I am not taking any notes. I don't need to. The assignments and classes are pretty easy.
In real life, I have a notebook and pen, and I write down whatever I think is important or my teacher says is important. I don't like to take notes, if I am honest.

I know sometimes it can be messy, but while I take notes or when I’m revising, I like to mind map, and then build arrows off of the arrows!
A lot of the time I have a title in the middle ‘cloud’ and subtopics in mini clouds coming off the big one!!
For revision I add what I know in one colour, review my notes/text again and add what I need to know.
