A message from Prof. Blue, Captain and Chaser for the Faculty Flobberworms Quidditch team
On April 20th, 2002 at 7pm GMT time, your HOL Staff will face the the mighty house Quidditch team of Ravenclaw in a duel of fun Quidditch! Don't miss our esteemed Headmaster as he plays Beater, sending those bludgers flying! And even our ever-cantankerous caretaker, McNish, will be seen flying over the pitch on a broom (instead of using it to sweep up dirt, he'll be using it to sweep up Eagles! Whoot! Go McNish! Er... ok ok... sorry, should be a little less biased...)

Since this game is for fun, we have decided that every 10 minutes (to coincide with the Seeker's break), we will have Player Substitutions in order to give more of our staff a chance to play if they want! (Though, Headmaster Dybendahl says it will take an act of the gods or something to get him off the pitch if he is beating like a banshee *laughs*)

Don't miss out on this game that is sure to go into the record books as one of the most... er... interesting... games ever played!

Headmaster Dybendahl has implemented a new HOL search engine which can be used to search through all main HOL pages, the Library, Hogsmeade, the Birthday Calendar, and several sub-pages. The Yearbook, however, cannot be searched (too many pages). The search function has been added to the main HOL page, and also to this post and the Newbie post in the HOL forum. (Hint: Use quotation marks to find a phrase; e.g., "James Potter".)

A message from Headmaster Dybendahl:
The following decisions have been made by the HOL School Board:

The HOL Quidditch Cup and the HOL House Cup will be separate awards next school year. House points will not be awarded for the final rank in the Quidditch Cup. Points will be awarded for the matches and the MVP awards. It has not been decided yet if the size of the awards will be increased.

Also, the School Board has decided to cut the points for this year's Quidditch Cup from the originally-planned 10,000 - 5,000 - 2,500 - 1,000 points for 1st to 4th place to either 6,250 - 3,500 - 1,500 - 750 or 5,000 - 2,500 - 1,250 - 500 points. More information on this topic can be found in this post on the main HOL forum.

A message from Headmaster Dybendahl:
Hello Wizards and Witches! Welcome to one of the biggest HP projects ever! We are rebuilding all of Hogwarts and its surrounding area on this website - room for room, corridor for corridor, the greenhouses, the lake, the forest, the Quidditch arena, everything... All the rooms and places are connected to each other exactly as we know it from the books; where we don't know the location in detail, we'll improvise. In the final stage, you can walk through the castle and EXPLORE HOGWARTS. All the rooms, corridors, staircases, secret passageways, the greenhouses, Quidditch field, Hagrid's Hut, Hogsmeade Station - all these places will get their own page in Explore Hogwarts, and YOU can design this page. You can do all the graphics, text and colors, add everything you want to the page (sound, flash, links), add games, riddles, passwords, whatever you can come up with to your page. It also can have multiple sub-pages.

If you want to design a room, please email the HOL Headoffice and let me know. Don't send in anything without giving notice first. There can be multiple versions of the same room, so don't worry. All submissions that live up to a certain quality level will be published. House points will be awarded by a special system (details here by mid-April; we are planning to set up an all-student jury, but this needs to be discussed with the staff yet). We hope you all enjoy the Explore Hogwarts project.
