Welcome to The SquibblerThe Squibbler is a fictional magazine that is set in the Harry Potter World, post-HP6. It is run as a Full-Year-Class in HOL 2005/06, means you will simply have to sign up for The Squibbler class (when sign-up starts on August 15), and you are part of The Squibbler. Sign-Ups will probably be open all year, but we will drop everyone from this class, who is not doing the assignments they promised to do. One golden rule: You MUST have read Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince for joining The Squibbler. Twice of three times is even better. We will work closely with what we 'learned' from the book about the state of the wizarding world and every little detail matters. So what are we doing in this class: We are planning, writing and publishing a magazine/newspaper. A newspaper that could exist in the HP World, and that Harry could read. Imagine a bit of a mix of The Daily Prophet and The Quibbler. It will be published monthly and include news, background stories, columns, images, cartoons, advertisements and so on... the full spectrum. The first issue will deal with the happenings in Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, and then we will develop the open ends of the book into a direction that we all not know yet where it will lead to. But not only news, politics and Hogwarts will be covered. Anything that you could imagine might be printed in a HP-World wizard paper could be covered: Fabulous Food Recipes, Potion of the month, The Weasley Twins latest products, A guide to hatch a dragon egg, Muggle plugs or those weird aeroplanes, A scandal in Beauxbatons, The Weird Sisters' latest album, and so on... The development of the main plotlines will be determined by The Squibbler's Editors (Cassie, Cosmo, Leah, Tarma and me), but every class member can suggest their own story ideas, write their own articles, or make illustrations - or just take one of the open story ideas and make them into an article. I will promote The Squibbler so it will probably reach quite a bit into the HP Fandom (that is if it all works out as planned). |
Please mind, the concept only works if we work as a team in this class. 'Homework' includes participating in the discussions in "Squibbler Live" and doing your assignments and keeping the deadlines. So please only sign up if this all sounds like fun to you. You will have to write at least one article each term, or you will be dropped from this class. Again... if you do sign-up for a story or graphics, and then are not delivering it, this will most likely result in you being dropped from the class as well (unless you sent a note to the editors in advance, so the piece can be rescheduled or reassigned). IMPORTANT: Everyone who signs up for The Squibbler has to submit FIVE story ideas before your class membership will be approved. We will approve everyone who submits five meaningful story ideas. (Editor's Room) That's all. Greetings. |
