HOL Names

When you sign up for HOL, you will have to pick a name for your HOL identity. It is highly recommended that you do not use your real name. All names will be verified by the Head Office, the name you choose meet certain conditions before they are verified:

• You must have a First Name and a Last Name. Names like sk8erboi2003 or ilovehorses are not acceptable. Choose any first and last name you like. We encourage distinguishable, original sounding names, but this is your personal decision.

• Harry Potter character names are not allowed in HOL, or any close variation thereof. You can not be Harry Potter or Hermione Granger, you also cannot be Harry Potter34, Harry Putter, Hary Potter or other similar nonsense. This also holds true for minor characters; for instance, no Stan Shunpike or Bertha Jorkins in HOL. The reason for this is simple: HOL is not a role-playing game. Besides, lots of people might have wanted to be Ron Weasley, not just you. However, new combinations of HP first and last names are accepted, like Hermione Potter or Harry Granger. Although they are valid names, we would also like to note that they are highly unoriginal and confusing.

• A name can only be used once. If a your desired name has been registered by someone else, it is not available. It will also be locked for at least one year after the original owner has left HOL.

• Your name must be "clean"! No offensive names or stupid, silly names. What is appropriate and what is not will be at the discretion of the administrators and Head Office members.

• No names of celebrities, including, but not limited to, all HP movie actors. No Daniel Radcliffe or Emma Watson. You can not pretend to be a celebrity in HOL. Even if Brad Pitt wants to join HOL one day, the "no real life name" guideline will be in effect for him as well.

• Your name cannot be that of a fictional character. For example, no Mickey Mouse, Frodo Baggins or Edmund Pevensie, no names from TV shows, comics, other books---try to be original.

You can only have ONE identity in HOL - just one! As stressed, HOL is not a role-playing game. You cannot "be" two students in the same house, and definitely not if they are in different houses. Fair play and honesty is a top priority at HOL. If you have quit HOL in the past, send an email or PM to one of your former house prefects, asking to be set active againp---do NOT sign-up with a new name. Double sign-ups will be deleted when discovered.

Invalid names, or names that are already taken, will be rejected during the sign-up process. You will find your name then on the Rejected Registrations list (from within the HOL Admission Office). Please register with a new name.
