Centaurs are definitely different in this book compared to those in the Harry Potter stories. Does it bother you, the way that centaurs are described? The 'empty' of the eyes, the lack of understanding when Ella is talking with Apple? Why or why not?

Ella is describing that she has but a little money "I had only three silver KJs". What do you imagine that the KJs looked like? Are they round or square or triangular or what? Do they have a hole in the middle of the coin or are they solid? Do they have a picture on one or both sides? For this prompt, draw a picture of the KJs, of both sides of the coins.

Ella and Char are exchanging letters. What are their letters written on? Do they have quills to write with, and dipping the tip of the quill into ink, or do they have ink pens like we have now? Describe or draw parchment and pen (or quill) such as what they are using.
