The Flood - Ian Rankin

Post by Louis Walles »

Title: The Flood

Author: Ian Rankin

Genres: fiction/crime

Short summary of the story: When Mary Miller was a child, she had a serious accident and was burnt in a chemical mix, which resulted in her being an outcast for most of her life. When the man who attacked her dies in accident a few days later, no one seems to care.

Now Mary is a single mother of her son, Sandy. He falls in love with a mysterious homeless girl. The girl forces both mum and the son to come to terms with a dark secret from Mary's past.

Good points/bad points: I really liked the book and I am amazed at the writing skills of Ian Rankin. This book was one of the first books to give him the recognition he has now. I can see why! I highly recommend this book to all of you!
