Prompt: Invitations

Post by Prof. Amy Lupin »

Throughout literature, we’ve been exposed to many different gatherings, some lavish like the Netherfield ball in Pride and Prejudice, some celebratory like Bilbo Baggins's 111th birthday party or festive like the Yule Ball held at Hogwarts.

This month we’d like you to design an invitation for a gathering that happens in one of your favourite novels. Be sure to include important details such as where it’s held and perhaps even include some other references to the world in which the novel resides. For example, if it were the Yule Ball you were designing an invitation for, you might include a line such as “RSVP by owl to…”. Get creative with fonts and borders/backgrounds.

Your work needs to be original, taking something off the internet or an idea from a book and claiming it as your own is plagiarism. Remember to keep everything HOL appropriate, adhering to all HOL rules, and please keep your submissions 600x600 pixels or smaller. Please also include a short description of your image.

You'll earn 20 beans for completing this prompt as well as it counting towards the chance to snag our shiny Ink Splatters Award.

There is no deadline as such for these prompts but if you’d like it to count towards your chance of earning the award for a specific year, we’ll need it by the end of that school year. If you’re comfortable sharing, then post below. If not, email your image and description to us via hol.bookclub @ gmail.com (without the spaces).

I lost the whole, nice description which I do not want to repeat, so it is a bit sparse here.

Dark-ish blue background. Upper and lower borders are framed with beige leaves.

Text is as follows from top to bottom.

In white flowy script: To witness their union
In beige, simple sherif font: Arwen Undomiel & Aragorn II Elessar Telcontar
In white flowy script: welcome you to
In white, simple font: Minas Tirith, Gondor
In beige, simple script: Mid-year's Day 3019
In white, uppercase font: dinner and dancing to follow

...also a platonic soulmate and a hot mess of a human being.

This is for Lily's wedding in Revenge of the Flower Girls. I RSVP'd it that way because one of the invitations the 3 girls sent out and they wanted to know if they had gotten the response that they wanted.
