Just as we did last year, we will finish this year with a challenge based on the letters in the word "END".

Your task this month is to write at least 75 words that reflect the theme of "beginnings and endings" in any sense. The challenge I'll set for you this time is as follows: the majority of the words in each of your sentences must end in one of the letters "E", "N", or "D"! (For example: "The ball is red." does not qualify because only two of the four words - "the" and "red" - end with one of the appropriate letters. But "The second ball is red." does because now three out of five words end appropriately.)

The deadline is June 30 at 11:59 PM HOL; completing this prompt will earn you 25 hoots. (Partial credit will be given in the form of 1 hoot for every 3 words up to 75.)

Once upon a time, no one dared to wonder aloud how those who summon the elden did it. The elden, the clan of furred people with white toothed fangs, would serve those who summoned them, but for a price.
The price was large, and fearful. When the person had summoned them three times three, the person then started becoming one of the elden. The beginning to summon was always the same - in service of the humans. But the end always wound up with the summoner becoming one of the elden.

You have earned full HOOTs for this prompt! (Removing the last sentence put the story at exactly 75 words.)
