Week 3: Mental Skills - Meditative Mandala
Meditation is another great tool for achieving peace of mind and as a youngling you will have weekly if not daily meditation sessions. A great way to start if you are not used to meditating is by colouring mandalas. The symmetry and the task of creating something beautiful is very soothing and a great place to start when you want to calm your mind and still your thoughts.
This mandala is made with the symbol of the jedi order, so not only will the task of colouring it offer a chance to relax, it will also allow you to reflect more on the Force and the Jedi Order.
If you would prefer not to colour the mandala, you may instead write a paragraph about your thoughts about the Force and/or the Jedi Order. The paragraph must be at least 100 words long.

Re: Week 3: Mental Skills - Meditative Mandala
It’s very easy to consider the dark and light sides of the force as destinations, firm ‘places’ that you can either ascend to or fall into. I’ve always wondered though whether there are such things as the dark and light sides because force sensitive beings have conditioned themselves to think that way. While it’s obviously true that there are certain powers which are tapped into by giving in to emotions traditionally viewed as ‘dark’, how much of that has to do with the expectation of what you’ll find if you do give into darker emotions? How much is a true, intrinsic relationship between certain manifestations of the force and intention/emotion and how much is a pattern of thought developed by centuries of philosophy on the part of many species? Is the force truly a cosmic weighing scale between good and evil or a power that is far beyond such mundane and arbitrary categorisations that can nevertheless be harnessed by someone as a tool to forward their own view of the universe? The corruption that surrounds certain sites said to be strong with the dark side would suggest that there is some kind of intrinsic evil or at least something that is inimical to life bound up with this expression of the force but I still wonder how much is fact and how much is legend turned to fact by belief.
