Here you can create smaller contributions to the paper. Maybe you want to advertise one of HOLs many activities, put brains to work puzzling, create an ad for something in the wizarding world, or provide an illustration to accompany an article you intend to write.
Guidelines
Graphic submissions are worth 5 points each.
You can submit six graphics per issue (for a total of 30 points) but only two of those can be puzzles.
Topics
Illustrations must accompany an article and be relevant to the topic of that article.
Ads may advertise a variety of things; the various places and events around HOL, and fictional wizarding world events, items and stores. We will close for ad submissions once we have enough.
All types of puzzles are welcome, but keep an eye on which types of puzzles have already been claimed, as we will only allow one of each type of puzzle per issue. We will close puzzle submissions once we have enough.
If you have trouble coming up with ideas, the Idea Bank has suggestions which you may use, but you are of course always more than welcome to create your own. Whether you use something from the Idea Bank or your own idea, you must always present your idea in the appropriate thread and have it approved. When you do, make sure to note whether someone else has claimed something similar, especially where puzzles are concerned.
Graphic Requirements
Graphics must be submitted as a link. Make sure your uploaded image will stay visible via the link you send in (i.e. the link will not expire before the issue is published). Attachments will not be opened.
Graphics should be no more than 600 by 600 pixels and must have a dark border if the image itself is relatively light. Graphics must also have some effort and creativity put in, particularly if you're using images created by someone else. A submitted graphic cannot just be an image with text slapped on top.
Puzzle Requirements
If the puzzle is a graphic puzzle, it must keep to the same requirements as graphics.
Text puzzles (e.g. riddles, logic puzzles, etc.) are welcome, and they will count as one of your two puzzle submissions per issue, but they will not count for a graphics submission, meaning you are still welcome to submit up to six images.
A solution for the puzzle must be submitted alongside the puzzle. If you fail to submit a solution, you will lose 2 out of the 5 points. The only exception to this is jigsaws.
You are in charge of checking submitted solutions to your puzzles and of transferring any beans you may want to offer as a reward.
Solving a Puzzle
In order to solve a puzzle, send the solution using the group message function to the creator of the puzzle and one of the editors (Prof. Sky Alton, Prof. Maxim Trevelyan, or Aurelia West). Puzzles from any given issue can be solved until the next issue comes out.
